Let's kick this off!

Does anyone have Mattador - Save Us From Ourselves, the 1991 9-track version? It has a few songs not on the re-recorded 1994 version (which I have and can share if anyone needs that one...) Cheers!

Here we are again! Hello everybody, guess what I found: Something unusual by Steve "The Voice" Overland (...somebody might have noticed that I somehow like his voice;-)!). It's 13 tracks of his collaboration with the Pop-Act CERRONE, recorded from 1989-1991. Don't expect screamin guitars with killer-solos! What you get is a number of great vocal performances, pure pop songs, mostly in a balladesque style. If you have a nice evening with your girl- or boyfriend in mind, you're right with these...

Enjoy...as always!

There you go again, disproving the veracity of your claim that you have nothing worthwhile to share.
Your credibility has gone right out the window, that much is clear.

@AORfan:

My own rips @320 kbps:

James Anderson - Strangest Feeling (1982)
David Roberts - All Dressed Up (1982)
Stencil Forest - Opening Act (1983)

Having some trouble uploading my Paul Bliss rip. I'm getting an error message both in RapidShare Uploader and at Megaupload. :o0
Giving it one more try...

Both did the job the second time around, so take your pick.

@ troy:

I take this comment as a compliment, my friend. But be sure that I didn't expect to surprise anyone of you. Isn't it always the same - what you have got seems quite uninteresting or special. So I looked at my collection first. Took a slightly deeper look now and digged out some pieces. I'm sure not confident that these are rarities, but I'm sure they're not available at every corner.
And if there are some non-surprises, who cares. Maybe someone finds something new. Worth it, isn't it?
Next attempt: The only French artist apart from David Hallyday I have in my collection belongs to the AOR/Westcoast scene. It's the 1996 album "Kissing Rain" by ROCH VOISINE. Some songs produced by Richie Zito or Richard Marx (and songwriting & vocals) you'll find Michael Thompson and Tim Pierce on guitars as well as Marco Mendoza, Randy Jackson and Neil Stubenhaus on bass and even Joseph Williams on backing vocals.
Expect the best - enjoy it! But if you know this already...just wanted to remind you of this great album!

That was supposed to be a compliment, yes. :o)

I'm gonna put my (lack of) money where my mouth is (so to speak) and try and grab your Roch Voisine upload (if RapidShare will let me) cause back in the day i looked for 'Kissing Rain' and was unable to find it.
All i've got is his 'On The Outside' CD (somewhere) in my (sorry excuse for a) collection.
But nobody need bother ask for it cause i can't find a damn thing (i store everything in boxes (in non-alphabetical order)) and haven't come across it in years.

PS: Just broke my own 'putting afterthoughts in parentheses' record. Hurray for me!! ;P

Hi Sofia,
sorry for the delay...as I often visited Greece before (I love Crete!) nothing is impossible. In which area do you live? Still tryin' to find words to tell my wife: "Mmmh, by the way, what about visting Sofia. I know her from the net..." ;-).
No, in reality she would be happy to meet interesting people (except for her bad english (=wow, great band) that would leave her speechless in conversation; and she don't like that guitar solos that much...). This year we don't know for sure where to go to on holiday, Greece is still on the bill.
But once again I am with "yours beloved" troy and would prefer Firefest, cause that's my "days off" for years now. Any chance for you to come over? I know a nice hotel close to the venue (with a 24-hours-open-bar!). TO ANYBODY WHO'S READING THIS BESIDES SOFIA - NO, THIS NO DATE!!!

All summer long? That won't be necessary. By the quarter finals at the latest we'll meet Spain or Brazil and there'll be no more need for orange jerseys after that.

And let me reiterate: If history has taught us anything, it's that Troy and Greece (or Greeks, if you will) don't go together well.

Talking about Bad English: I've been at the JOHN WAITE club tour last year and was absolutely convinced! A superstar he's been selling millions of records, but still he's a fanfriendly, cool guy with that voice, that you'll recognize among thousands! He's back in Europe in for some concerts in Germany, Holland, Belgique, Spain and England. I bought the re-issues of "temple bar", "when you were mine" and "figure in a landscape" last year. There are 5 bonus tracks on them I'd like to share with you, added 5 more "net-finds" to make it a bit more interesting. Go and see Mr. Wonderful if you can!

Firstly great work on these requests threads. Your work is greatly appreciated.Camel great community here
I thought I'd add a couple of wants if that's ok...I'm sure others will fined them interesting if they surface

First one mentioned in an early Wimpwire and one I've never seen is
Mark Karven - S/T (Canadian Duke St). I've seen a single around but not the LP...

Also anyone have the Hot Night in The City Compilation with that Moscara track (or anything by May-ker who they became after I think)

...and finally one for AORHEART anything by Sherok or Tough Love?

thanks for reading and any help would be a great start to the year

Hi everybody,
time for the weekend now. Now that we're drowning in snow here and still more to fall I'm glad to sit inside...
And now to something completely different...here's a german artsit that maybe little people outside Germany have ever heard from: ALEX ORIENTAL EXPERIENCE is a strange guy playing a turkish instrument called "saz", but it's not that exotic as it sounds. It's more blues rock with a special twist, pretty melodic I would say, with some great solos. Please try this, it features - by the way - the BIRTH CONTROL-rhythm section Horst Stachelhaus (bass) and Manfred von Bohr (drums). No "Krautrock"! I promise!
This is a live recording from 1991:

It's a track from the international version of the album "100 years from now" not featured on the version mamedia uploaded a while back.

you guys amaze me...

Robert thanks for Hot Nights CD...really appreciated...downloading it now

and AORHEART not sure what the confusion was...I would love to hear the Demos of Tough Love you have...

I'm going to be really cheeky now and ask if anyone has the Airrace Demos that someone was selling on ebay before Xmas. After seeing them recently and getting the re-issue my interest has gathered a pace again. Had a chat with them after Firefest and they seemed so excited to be playing together again...

thanks everyone

plattenpapst said...

@ troy:

Sorry, never heard of him before...just listened to the soundfiles on his myspace-site because of your request. Great guitars, but less interesting voice (wherever used...). You like that kinda instrumental stuff? Although I prefer some vocals mostly in a good song I'm really a guitar freak (without ever being able to play a single chord - I almost hate my parents for not letting me learn how to play!).
What about ABI VON REININGHAUS and his album "King Of Hearts" instead? More into the Lukather-categories, highly recommended!
I'm very much interested in those blues rock guitars like JOE BONAMASSA - you gotta have a look at the Albert-Hall-DVD..."Just got paid" is my favourite guitar track at that moment!

Before I forget: This is from Denmark, a grat singer, guitarist and actor named NIKOLAJ STEEN. Listen to this - pure AOR with a touch of Westcoast:

Holy crap!! :o0 Are you made of money?

It's the Request & Fill section's very own Dagobert Duck!

No chance of you ever running out of anything to post.

(I can only conclude that your previous claim was an extreme case of false modesty.)

"Sorry, never heard of him before...just listened to the soundfiles on his myspace-site because of your request. Great guitars, but less interesting voice (wherever used...). You like that kinda instrumental stuff?"

Not a big fan of instrumental albums usually (i consider Liquid Tension Experiment just plain noise for instance), but he seems to be an exception to the rule.

Came across him here:
https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/brockmann2

@Camelblue:

Not much chance of running into that Roch Voisine CD.
All i know is it's in some closet that's stuffed to the hilt with cardboard boxes filled with CDs and lots of DVD box sets balancing precariously on top of those.
I don't really feel like upsetting that balance and risking an avalanche. :(

@Peter:

Shadow Page Band, songs 1 and 2

Yes, i've ordered from both The Rock and Sounds in the past, but they're stores in the far south of the country and i live in the north, on the IJssel Lake shoreline, in the same small town Ronald and Frank de Boer come from.

plattenpapst said...

@ troy:
I'm not made of money...sniff...I'm OOOOLD! I started collecting from my youth (...long ago..) and always took the chances to have a deep look into those sales-boxes at various stores and mail orders. Found there extraordinary stuff just by looking at covers, reading booklets etc. But, yeah, on the other hand: I'm still financing the music-industry by spending some money on cd's, dvd's and concert tickets.

Sorry homer, I can't...I have non! I had one 2 years before, of course a pure digital one. But what happens to pure digital data? It's gone with a data crash in 2007. Can you imagine how I felt that day? Nothing left, no chance to restore it (much toooo expensive!). And until now I haven't got the nerves to redo it again, as you might understand. Maybe one day, when I recover I'll start that project again.

troynew said...

@plattenpapst:

Wish i could be of assistance, but just cause it's an album by a Dutch artist it doesn't automatically follow that i own it.

Whatever output i have by my fellow countrymen and women, mostly falls under the header of progressive rock or regular pop.

I've never even heard of Arjen Anthony Lucassen's 'Pools Of Sorrow...' release or ever came across it in a record store.

Aside from being familiar with some of the stuff he did with Vengeance and his far superior offerings under the Ayreon moniker, all i know about him is they used his Flying V guitar for the cover of AMH's (Aardschok/Metal Hammer's) renowned 'Hardrock & Heavy Metal Encyclopedie', a copy of which i won in a contest by deliberately gravely insulting the equally renowned Henk Westbroek, host of Holland's only hard rock radio show 'VARA's Vuurwerk'. ;P

(Back in the good old days when Dutch radio was still broad-minded enough to reserve one whole hour a week to cater to the huge crowd of dedicated followers of the hard & heavy scene.)

@80sAOR:

err, didn't bother to look at your e-mail addy.

It was just an assumption, which as we know is the Mother of all Fuckups.

I have a question on the final track of your Nikolaj Steen album. According to the back cover the song "When I Come Home" is 3:10 long but the version we get is 14:38. There is a long silence after the song finishes at 3:10 and then at 13:49 it picks up again with a bit of punk type of music.

Is that how it should be?

@ all:
What would you call it, if Fergie Frederiksen of Toto, Randy Meisner of The Eagles, Ansley Dunbar of Journey, Randall Hall of Lynyrd Skynrd amongst others would enter the stage and perform several of their hits live? This happens several times in the year and these guys call themselves WORLD CLASSIC ROCKERS when touring the USA. Of course there is no new material to be expected, but who really wants that?
This a live recording that was offered from their homepage, should be from 2002 as far as I can rember. Got this from a friend of mine (thanx, Dicken!).

Euphoria is:

Don Cromwell (bass, keyboards, acoustic guitar)
Gene Black (guitar)
Russel Dean Burke (drums)

Additiional Musicians:
Dava Amato (guitar)
Tommy Girvin (guitar)
Jamie Westman (backing vocals)

Euphoria is a power rock band featureing the incredible vocal talent of Sean Westman. Originally from South Florida and now living in Las Vegas, Sean has been fronting bands on both the East and West coast with a passion and energy unique to himself. After a chance meeting with producer/writer/musician Don Cromwell (RANSOM), Sean was ready to embark on a new musical journey that would become Euphoria. For the debut album, "At The Speed Of Light", Sean and Don were joined in the studio by some of L.A.'s finest guitarists. Gene Black (JOE COCKER, DEVICE, ROBIN McAULEY) handled most of the work with Dave Amato (REO SPEEDWAGON, TED NUGENT) and Tommy Girvin (EDDEI MONEY, RANSOM) also contributing some fiery guitar licks. Euphoria will rock you with the power of a hurricane and the twists of a tornado.

@Nivjourney87: regarding Gene Miller... I'm sure you've already heard the Fake I.D. "Dreaming Ezekiel" album with him on vocals. You can find some Gene Miller tracks on Request & Fill Corner Part 2, they're on "Fade In Love - Angeles" compilation, besides the Fake I.D. "Second Coming" demos of course (an alternate version called Barlow/Minto Demos is also somewhere on the thread).

Anybody have his 'solo' album "Dream With Me Tonight"? It's not really solo... it's a children's lullabies album! I'm also looking for the Gene Miller duet on Lion's King OST, called "Love Will Find A Way", and also the track "Virginia" off this compilation:

But when we're talking genuine tear-jerkers (in the best sense of the phrase), as in 'songs that actually manage to move me', very few come to mind.

I would recommend 'In My Room' and 'The Door' (both on Martin Page's 'In The House Of Stone And Light' CD) and 'Lead Me On' by Amy Grant.

Now those have what i call gripping lyrics.

@ Aggelos:

Thanx 4 the links...

Hi, Aggelos

Many thanks for the Innermission LP, I have been after that for ages, can't wait for the other B.E. Taylor Group Albums, thanks again, aorcentral

@Aggelos:

"Does CLIFF MAGNESS has any other
album?"

No other solo album unfortunately, but he's done hundreds as a producer (and has a couple of Grammy Awards to show for it).

And one album with Planet 3 called either 'Music From The Planet' or 'A Heart From The Big Machine'.

The only difference besides the cover art and mastering is track 10, which is 'Ever After Love' on the original issue of MFTP, 'Dreamers' on the reissue of MFTP and 'I Will Be Loving You' on AHFTBM.

Much obliged for all the links.
I'll take a few.

I have Planet 3...
I prefer his solo which is more powerful....
Thanks 4 the info

Many thanks Camelblue for the link!! Most appreciated.

Will continue to look for:

The Strand - S/T (1980 Jeff Porcaro produced)
&
Robert Fleischman - Perfect Stranger (1979 feat. Neal Schon)

Cheers again

Although I have a Rapidsh. account, I'm tired.
Until they make it reasonable with their compulsive 'Create Premium Account, no more download slots left" crap, I'll be using HOTFILE

@Camelblue:

Sorry i beat you to it, but your hard labor will most likely not be in vain cause your download link looks so much prettier than mine that you'll still get all the downloads. (Looks like both are 320 kbps.)

Maybe in future i'll give it another 8 minutes before i post anything...

"Until they make it reasonable with their compulsive 'Create Premium Account, no more download slots left" crap, I'll be using HOTFILE"

I may follow your shining example.
Screw those RapidPoints. I'm never gonna convert them anyway.
