THE GUESS WHO is a rock band from Winnipeg, formed the mid 60's.
Maybe you know them by the classic rockin' song 'American Woman', which earned the group the honour of being the first Canadian band to have a No.1 hit on the American charts.
But that's another story.
The band reformed several times, and almost disappear at the end of the seventies.
By the beginning of the '90s, the only original members were Jim Kale and Gerry Peterson, and they decided to rebirth Guess Who to produce a new album with a classic AOR sound that almost sounds as if it was recorded in the 80's.
For that they required the songwriting services of Alfie Zappacosta, Bob Halligan Jr., Eddie Schwartz... !!!!
Think eighties STARSHIP, LOVERBOY or ZAPPACOSTA, and you get the picture.
"Love's All That Matters Tonight" has all the ingredients to be a massive hit, "Still Feels Like Love" spread a magnificient westcoast vibe, "Haunted Heart" is a perfect ballad ala R.E.O. SPEEDWAGON, and "The Razor's Edge" sounds a lot like JOHN PARR.
But the winner here is "Sweet Liberty", penned by Alfie Zappacosta. Awesome monster AOR song.
The new singer, Terry Hatty, was a real find (where are you!), sounding like a cross between Mickey Thomas and John Farnham. Terrific performance.
Production is top notch, as said, like a big budget 80's recording.
Forgotten and unknown for the majority of AOR lovers, this CD is a damn fine AOR plate, one of the best releases of the 90's in the genre.
You better don't miss this one.
Highly Recommended.

am i the only one to get invalid link from all files on hotfile from camelblue, tried to get this and others after entering correct captcha still no luck, any suggestions as to what's wrong? thanks in advance.
Hi Peter.
Hotfile is getting weird since yesterday.
I've tried to download other links , same problem :-(
Must be temporary, 'cos I see 36 dw of this file until now.
Wait a couple of hours or try tomorrow.
I've had the same problem with a few things from the blog that are on Hotfile, so I signed up to get a premium account, however, it tells me that I can't accept cookies and won't log me on!! Rapidshare and Megauploads may be a pain in the ass, but at least with a premium Rapidshare account, I can download stuff!!
It's working fine right now.
I am downloading some files from Hotfile.
Let's see what happens in the future...
Still giving me the same old 'invalid link' comment and I still can't log on, even when I allow my PC to accept all cookies..oh well...that Premium account was a waste of money
Ok...Solved it in part! I can avoid the 'invalid link' thing by right-clicking the 'download now' icon and then clicking 'open in new window'. That does it. However, that's only on 'fee user'download, not on my Premium account.
Anyway...many thanks Camelblue!! It's a great AOR album. Really good and you are right about the production...HUGE!
Awesome album indeed. Never would have expected The Guess Who (thought they were dead and buried) to pull an AOR rabbit this large out of their tophat. Can't believe all those nitwit reviewers over on Amazon.com slamming it for the same reasons we (those who DO have taste in music) give it well-deserved praise.
Had no trouble at all downloading it by the way.
thanks for this one
thanx camelblue, now i am listening a bit of bachman turner overdrive, some kind of connection over there
No conocÃa este disco, muchas gracias.
Es excelente: la voz y la producción, increibles
This is not The Guess Who that Canada and the world knew. It's a commercial rehash with a decent- voiced singer and a couple of musical whores (Peterson,Kale) that used to be in The Guess Who. When people think "The Guess Who" it is Burton Cummings, Randy Bachman- not this money-grabbing outfit!
