My Wildlife - 'Wildlife' upload in the links list of Req & Fill Corner 5 was a CD rip, not a vinyl rip.
I thought it was initially, but corrected this assumption a few posts later.

Just discovered this band today. Top drawer stuff if you're into the likes of Kino, IQ, Galahad, Pallas or the softer side of Threshold.

I've read your comment (deleted by yourself) about WHITE WIDDOW's rip.
Files have been encoded using LAME but with the 'avr' preset instead the commonly 'vbr'.
Some players don't like 'avr', the file plays OK but there's silence gaps between each track.
I use WinAmp and plays smoothly...

    ReplyDelete
  50. @ Camelblue

    Hello there !
I am just spinning the new WHITE WIDDOW. Thanks for uploading ! But I just noticed that some of the gaps between the tracks are AWFULLY and annoyingy long, i.e. 4 & 5, 5 & 6, etc. App. 1 minute each ! Is this a mistake maybe ?

    Thanks ......

    ReplyDelete
  51. @ Camelblue (again ..)

Sorry, I posted again before reading your comment. But I wanted to make the correction that it is not all gaps.
Anyway: I actually burned the tracks on a CDR using Power2Go (OEM), so it's not a software player. Anything I need to do different when burning ?

    can you help me, pease?

    ReplyDelete
  54. @ Swazi :
Ugh, that's why. Burning softs doesn't like 'avr' too.
You have burned the files 'on the fly' (dropping mp3's directly into the soft).
Never, NEVER let any burning software (incl. Nero) do the job for you. Not only with mp3's, just with ALL compressed files (.avi, mp4, etc).
Just de-compress your files to their orig. format (in this case .wav) with a good prog like dbPoweramp. Only takes a few seconds.
    And voilá.

laughing to death... haha you and your couch troy. haha

Thanks to all for the warm salutations.
FYI troynew, I am booting 37 since yesterday....

    ReplyDelete
  57. @Camelblue:

I found it slightly less amusing. And so did the delivery guys who had to carry it up a flight of stairs, along a narrow walkway, into the hallway of my crappy apartment, had to deliberate for 15 to 20 minutes how to fit a square peg in a round (in a manner of speaking) hole and subsequently had to carry the bloody thing back to their truck.
They wouldn't even unload the 2-seater and promptly repossessed the pillows. :o(

PS: 37? I had you pegged (square, round or otherwise shaped) as older. I'm 'only' 7 years your senior but on the evidence of my appallingly poor health and the 4 letter words that came out of my mouth when that couch incident occurred I might as well have inspired the sequel to 'Curse From The Mummy's Tomb'.

    @Sofia:

Won't be that easy to just pick a new one. Every 3-seater that is over 2 meters in length apparently won't fit through the living room door. And this was the only one that looked good, matched my interior and could be paid for in a zillion monthly installments.

    Anyway... back to music talk.

  79. @Swazi/Camelblue:

The White Widdow album is absolutely fantastic.....On another site, someone was saying that the promo leaked onto the net was/is not yet mastered. Could have fooled me, sounds very polished. Others seem not too impressed with the lead vocals, but I think the voice blends with the music just fine. Jules may not have the vocal dynamics of, for example, Jeff Scott Soto or Michael Bormann, but he's certainly adequate for this project IMHO. I'll definitely pick up a copy of this CD immediately upon release.

It's been a phenomenal year so far for new melodic rock releases--> "First Signal" with Harry Hess, Terry Brock's "Diamond Blue" and new CDs from "Treat" and "H.E.A.T." have already made my year. That "Unruly Child" is set to release a new studio album involving all of the original members from the S/T masterpiece is just an additional two layers of thick icing on the cake. Oh yeah, "Strangeways" is back too with a real AOR album, not that prog. crap from the mid-90s. Very cool..Cheers, Jeff.

    ReplyDelete
  80. BTW, I wasn't ripping on prog. rock as a whole by any means, I absolutely love such when done well. I just couldn't for the life of me ever dig any of the "Strangeways" albums beyond the first three.

  91. @ Alex F:

I believe Troynew has already post the solo demos from Kristina Nichols here in the Request & Fill Corner ?

But here you have a self made compilation:
Kristina Nichols - Gospel & Rare Tracks

    Rare (Sound)Tracks:
    01. KRISTINA NICHOLS - Only When I Cry (Single 1995)
    02. KRISTINA NICHOLS - The Secrets Of My Heart
    03. I DO NOT LOVE YOU ISABELLE

I think you like the song "Only When I Cry" from Kristina Nichols (ex The Storm) ! I found it on the
Soundtrack "Song From The Sea" 1995.
And the very nice song "The Secrets Of My Heart" is from the Soundtrack "Ruby Cairo" 1993 ?

I DO NOT LOVE YOU ISABELLE is also with vocals from Kristina Nichols (with Cliff Richard and Olivia
Newton John) It's not AOR but I like her voice very much !!!

And here are the "gospel" tracks with Kristina Nichols !

    Gospel Songs:
    04. Be Still And Know
    05. Beautiful
    06. Great And Marvelous
    07. I Love You Lord
    08. Joyful, Joyful, We adore Thee !
    09. My King
    10. That's Why We Praise Him
    11. You Are
    12. These Things Are True Of You
    13. Grace Alone
    14. Come And See
    15. The Power Of Your Love - duet with Chris Falson/Kristina Hamilton (Nichols)

"Only 'cos you're my favorite entertainer..."

Well, you're (censored) out of luck, 'cause come tomorrow I'm off to provide the entertainment on a Holland-America cruise ship, dancing the Can-Can in a sequined miniskirt like a reject from a Moulin Rouge chorus line.
(Still wondering whether or not to shave my legs and assume the stage name 'Susan' since they tell me I can rake in higher tips that way, although I'm told the horndogs' incessant dry humping of my nether extremities can be an inconvenience sometimes.)
So I guess you'll have to lower your standards even further and scour skid row for a suitable replacement who's equally willing to work for peanuts, an occasional pat (or in my case pet monkey) on the back and a monthly two-minute shag behind the dumpster filled with an abundance of feline remains in a dimly lit alleyway adjacent to your local Chinese restaurant. :oP

    PS:
Thanks for the Tarney/Spencer Band rip.

Vocals recorded in 1978, music tracks re-recorded, rearranged, and mixed in 1984.
    Released 1984 without Rick's approval.
In 2007, a small specialized label released this album in digital format as 'The Early Sound City Sessions'

Sorry I haven't responded sooner on Heard It On The Radio - Vol 2. I will be happy to re-up it, the problem is all of my cds are packed in boxes as I had to clear out my basement to make room for jackhammers and plumbing repairs. It was a costly nightmare as a drain line had ruptured beneath my basement floor. All is well now, except for the $$ bill.

I have the cd on my hard drive at 192k and I can re-up that - or if you prefer to wait I will find the cd this weekend and re-rip it at 320k and send it then. Let me know which you prefer. For purposes of this forum I am sure all would prefer the 320k rip.

Here's something from my own collection that got an (official?) CD-release these days: One of the best livebands in the eighties (and still great today), one of the best livealbums of all times in my opinion.

Joining her on the record were other native Memphians, Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn from the Stax era, along with the Pointer Sisters, singing backup. Susanne spent years building a following in local venues in several groups. Later she teamed up with Pat Taylor, who was also a Mercury artist at the time. Shortly thereafter, Pat & Susanne got together and co-wrote the FM100 theme song "Memphis I'm Coming Home to You" (My Radio's Pickin' Up FM100), which became a mainstay on the radio for three years running. They soon put a band together with Rob & Russ Caudill and Tom Ward called "THE BREAKS". Here's something quite actual from my collection that might not have got the attention it deserves: It's the acoustic-live-album by German band/singer HARTMANN, released on CD/DVD on a small label in 2008. What you get to hear is sure one of the best singers from Germany for quite a while, cool versions of his first 2 solo-albums and a breathtaking version of John Miles "Music"! Highly recommended!

I'd be glad if you teamed with camel and me, maybe itwould be the birth the "three musketeers of aor"? Sounds like a comic-movie, don't you think?
What would you say would be an acceptable time to wait 'til my next upload, my dear?

    @ Sofia:
    Any chance for Firefest?

A strong welcome back from me too! And to answer your question:
"Nah! I don't think so. I have to be a sensible ant than a reckless cicada (what a weird word!) for the first time in my life and save for the winter! I really tried to make it though. Sorry!
But at least I won't miss Saraya cause they won't perform there after Sandi screwed it up for all of us.
Now I'll just have to be patient for October, to enjoy Pretty Maids, Bonfire and Firehouse all in one concert here in Greece! I can't wait!

I'll second al's request (cbox) for Michael Bolton's rare stuff. Any chance of getting that?

  181. @Plattenpapst:

Glad to hear that once in a while I am able to entice you to reach for a slightly more edifying literary work than the Girls Of Spring Break swimsuit issue of 'Sport's Illustrated'.
And yes, I absolutely forbid you to post any further links without my express permission. That is, until I say otherwise.

I actually meant that it would not benefit anybody else if you and PP would share rarities between the two of you with no intention of making them available to the public at large.
But since you do intend to share aforementioned Mark Free offerings with this community eventually you may ignore my somewhat premature comments.
    Everyone else does.

My sweet complainer, I really don't think that is possible for anyone to ignore anything about you! Especially when you complain about something in such adorable way!

"...after Sandi screwed it up for all of us."

What did she do? Cause a fatal rift in the band by exposing Saraya as a latter-day Milli Vanilli on Oprah's recent 'Artists Who Only Pretend To Handle Their Instruments With Any Degree Of Musical Ability Or Whose Mic Stand Serves Exclusively As A Freudian Phallic Symbol' grand giveaway special?

You should know I never complain. I only express feelings of dissatisfaction and deep resentment in order to aggravate people into submission.

Get in here and find out for yourself:

And here, if you're interested in knowing (recommended) Sandi's side of the story:

Actually I mentioned both -Firefest's and Sandi's- sides in my Saraya presentation here:

Kalispera, here's some rarities of Mr. Bolton that you'll find at www.guitars101.com:

    MICHAEL BOLTON - AOR Provider
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M4YG7G3P

Some interesting demos here, some of them in collaboration with Jonathan Cain.

I'm gonna put up some b-sides of live recordings from 1992-1995 a little bit later and can offer some live tracks from 1983 (short radio show) and another concert from 2008 (awesome quality)...if someone's interested, just let me know!

  190. @Sofia:

Unlike you I don't care enough about Sandi or her music to have an opinion on the matter, but the bottom line seems to be regardless of the credibility factor of her sob story whether you believe an all expenses paid family outing is a reasonable demand or not in exchange for services rendered when others are granted no such preferential treatment.
Judging from your 'screwed it up for all of us' remark you apparently don't think so.
Maybe she's fallen off her pedestal (been there, done that) just a little in your perception?

  191. @ sofia and anybody else interested:

Something more from MICHAEL BOLTON, as promised. First of all an early radio-show from 1983, when he was still rockin' - there's even a version of "Fool's Game"...from my own collection - but no art .

MICHAEL BOLTON - 1983 - Live At Agora Ballroom, Texas
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U1SKE07C

Next is a collection of single b-sides, featuring live songs from the early nineties - all official, no art again!

MICHAEL BOLTON - Live Lines [320]
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YODVK1GV

And finally an audience recording of an show in Birmingham 2008 - awesome sound that beats most soundboard recordings. Great show of a great singer - but he's running out of acceptable songs nowadays. What would it mean to make him record another AOR-album? No chance for the Frontiers-guys for another "project"? This show was found at Nathan's Goat...thanx for that!

    Enjoy!

I don't keep people (artists or otherwise) on pedestals, sweetie.
I also don't know the lady as a person and even if I did I couldn't pass judgement on her.
Sometimes I do that unconsciously but most of the times I try to avoid that like hell!
However I think I'm in title to judge her as an artist and a professional.
Therefore I think that she should act like one (a pro) and keep her side of the bargain as originally agreed.
She should keep her word and perform for various reasons, such as:
    1) She wasn't alone. She should have thought of her "partners in crime" (other band members and old friends as she called them)
    2) She shouldn't make unreasonable and selfish demands (all of her family expenses paid - especially when she happens to have such big family)
    3) She should respect her fans who she very well knew all these years have supported them, loved them and waited for them to perform at least one more time.
(If you were a fan you would know that all these years they were practically begging her to do so!)
    4) It was only one show for Christ's sake! (How hard could it be for her to pull it off?)
With all the above being said but not done I have only two last things to say:
I'll keep loving her voice and songs but not respect her as a pro artist like I used to.
If I was in her shoes I would practically beg, steal or borrow to make that show happen! (but that's just me...) ;)

    @plattenpapst & J
Thank you so much for your generosity! I appreciate it!

Steve Perry - 'Street Talk' RapidShare link says 'Download Error: This File Has Been Marked As Illegal'.
Can you upload it to Megaupload or some other host?

    @Sofia:

    All perfectly valid points.
She could have just asked some roadie to videotape her participation in the event if showing her kids that mummy used to be a cool rock chick once upon a time was her main motivation.
Tough break if it ain't as hands-on an experience as all five of them being there in the flesh.

    @Plattenpapst:

Thanks for the great Michael Bolton stuff.
If one's friendly request (to ease up on the posting spree) is to be so blatantly disregarded, getting something worthwhile out of it goes a long way toward making up for the inconvenience. :o)
