Now to my wonderings, this guy who plays guitar on Giants latest, John Roth, doesn't he sound very "Huffish"?
I know Dann is playing the solos on some tracks (Beliver and Save me) as it says in the album art, but, - with VERY MUCH speculating - are those the only tracks Dann is playing on...? I don't know as I really haven't heard so much of John Roth before.
I mean, the solo on "Never surrender", doesn't that sound EXTREMELY much like a Huff-solo?
Well maybe You all get my point, please excuse me if I am being suspicous and doing any miscredit of John, it's just that they sound so very much alike in their playing.
Please comment anyone if You disagree and really recognise the guitar playing as John Roth's on all tracks except the one's indicated. And, as I mentioned earlier, I haven't really heard anything by John before, so maybe I am totally out of line here ;-P

I think you're right. Read somewhere that Dann has some kind of contractual / endorsement problems with certain Co. (reason to be 'uncredited' ?).
On the other hand, it is possible that Roth got same Dann's sound set-up and play emulating him. Not strange, as the man is one of the most influencing axe-man on the planet.

I've had my eye on them for at least three months now. About time I get to sample the merchandise.

The only reason I haven't preordered said titles myself yet is you never know whether you have to wait a couple of weeks, a few months, the better part of a year or (as in the case of the second Alliance album) forever before you receive the stuff Retrospect announce with such self-congratulatory aplomb.
They unfortunately are rather unpredictable (verging on unreliable when it comes to keeping their promises) and strangely unwilling to divulge release date information.
So we're talking a whole lot of un's there. Which is never a good sign. ;-)

ReplyDeleteYep, I also think Sam is too quick with his announcements sometimes. By doing that he is building up excitement and anticipation amongst us, which often leads to disappointment. I don't have such a big issue with this as I have enough stuff to listen to, lol!, but others get pissed off and react in a harsh way, which again I find childish. So far I have not been let down by Sam. I sent an email to him last night asking for the preorders (Groundstar, Illustrator & Jillson) and he responded within 5 minutes and apologized. The Groundstar will come soon and the other 2 will be refunded as they will take longer.
The only time a wrong announcement did annoy me was when Adrian told me that the RATHSKELLER was not going to be released after all due to trouble amongst the band members. Damn ... ! I was soooooo looking forward to that one !!
In other words, you might just as well wait with your orders until the stuff is on stock. I should have known better and done that as well. My fault.

He didn't even respond to my last two e-mails inquiring why it was taking so long (I was being diplomatic about it) for him to get a fully functional copy out to me.
