I assumed virtually every word that you would write... hahaha (and don't start with the bolded sentence...).
Strongly recommend "Jdownloader" for multiple links like movies, concerts, etc.
http://jdownloader.org/home/index?s=lng_en.
Easy to use (even for you ;P) , light and clean.
You just paste the links and voila.
Supports ALL host sites including russian (again ;P)

@ McKagan:
Agree with you at some point... but many people need some help to resolve some issues.
What are (virtual) friends for?
It's cool for me, not only to share music.
Thanks for your continuous contributions, downloading ZEABRA myself.

@ plattenpapst:
You are getting into serious trouble... YES, I am interested in SHEELA previous albums and also "Straight Hearted Ones (2000)" @ 320K if possible.
This one was sumitted by a reader @ 128. Was completely unaware of this German band, really really good.
I wouldn't mind to listen "ANDY TAYLOR-Collection "Re-issued & Re-modelled" either...

ok this is my first post, i am also a big collector of rare aor and my wants are the following songs (in good quality, as i have them in terrible quality taped from tv 10-15 years ago):

a wonderful uptempo AOR rocker (a la FIONA) called NEVER SURRENDER, sung by a fantastic female singer (don't know who), the song was as far as i know only used as theme song for a TV commercial for some sort of fitness equipment during the mid 90s (on a Dutch channel called RTL4, it appeared at least 20 times a day for 1-year during the non-broadcasting hours in the morning!!!), unbelievable song, i will upload some bad sounding mp3 if i can transfer tape to mp3 somehow, song has a chorus that goes like "never surrender never say die if there's hope in your heart you can touch the sky", someone please help me!

AOROCKER said...

wants number 2:

the songs from a TV show called EMERALD COVE, broadcasted through the MICKEY MOUSE CLUB of DISNEY back then at RTL VERONIQUE hosted by the lovely ANNIKO VAN ZANTEN in Holland, here's a review:

EMERALD COVE (USA/1995?)

This is a TV-serie that has some really short episodes of only 5 minutes. It was about a Rock’n’roll-band called HIGH DENSITY. The members of the band were very young and still went to highschool and had to work very hard as a band to earn attention of the local people. I guess you’ll already know what kind of music this band played. They played pure A.O.R./Radiorock in the best 80’s tradition. Because I don’t have any info about the songs,songwriters and performers, I can only mention the titles of the featured songs and compare them musically to other bands/artists. I think some of the well-known AOR-songwriters/ performers have written/performed the songs, because not only the songs are from a very high quality, but there appears also 1 very well-known song. I’m talking about the song “Always” of PAUL SABU/ONLY CHILD. This song is played by the band HIGH DENSITY in one of the episodes, only with different lead vocals. These lead vocals are done by the main character, but if he actually sings is not known. The lead vocals are o.k.

Besides “Always”, the other songs are unknown to me, but very good at times. The song “Another broken heart”, for example, is a wonderful A.O.R.-ballad in the style of BAD ENGLISH. Also the song “Forever yours” is in that category. “Hold tight” is a really amazing song, because it damn sounds like STEEL BREEZE/PREVIEW/707, which means pure aor/radiorock in early 80’s tradition with many harmonyvocals and a fantastic chorus. Also the sing-a-long song “Never get enough of you” has that feeling, a polished AOR-rocker that could’ve been on the classic PREVIEW-album of 1983.

I heard some great keys in the song “Promises”, which is another uptempo A.O.R.-rocker. Another great song is “Tell me why” that is pure uptempo AOR, only thing is that this song does sound very very much like the classic-AOR-rocker “Carrie why?” of FRANKE&THE KNOCKOUTS. Especially the harmonyvocals (of all songs!) does sound very much like the third album ‘Makin’ the point’ of FRANKE&THE KNOCKOUTS. Musically most of the featured songs in this TV-serie does also have a lot of similarities to that classic-album. There also appear some songs on the background, only used as background music. I could only hear the songs “Carry the word”(like old CONNIE SCOTT) and “Runaway”(midtempo aor) that both have female lead vocals.

So, this TV-serie ‘Emerald cove’ featured about 10 songs, including some fantastic ones that are pure A.O.R. If you ever get the chance to see it, you must really listen to those songs.

You will need RatDVD for this one. It's a software that decreases dvds up to about 1/4 to 1/5 of its original giga and saves you a lot of pc space in the process. Having it installed you can then watch them thru Windows Media Player. I'm sorry but I couldn't find it in any other format. Google it and you'll find the software's site to download it from if you like.

"Guys I need these six songs from the Trick or Treat movie (not included in the soundtrack)."

Minor coincidence: i subtitled the Dutch DVD release of 'Trick Or Treat'. Not a bad movie despite its lack of budget. I seem to recall Gene Simmons played a DJ.

'Scream Until You Like It' is on Only Child's self-titled 1988 album. I can rip and upload it if you want.

@whoever it may concern:

Happy Easter egg hunting and a crash-free turn of the millennium to all! :o)

AOROCKER said...

and finally, number 3 wanted songs

Crossing the Line (1989)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097129

very average movie, but an incredible titlesong, which is AOR at its very best, sung by JOE PIZZULO this song is as good as any tune on the MARK FREE classic Long way from love

and a second song:

"When he is inside that bar, the music is loud enough to hear it and to see it! Because the featured band is actually performing their song “When love breaks” live on stage in that bar. I have to guess the title, because it wasn’t mentioned on the subtitles of the movie.

Anyway, “When love breaks” is really pure classic AOR from a very high class, what an incredible song and sound this band has. The name of the band is not known, but compare the sound to New Jersey bands like PROPHET, early BON JOVI, INTRUDER, NORWAY, STONE SOUP and also comparisons to FORTUNE, HARLAN CAGE, BOB WHEELER (could have been a song of this Canadian AOR artist, but I think nobody has heard of him) and even WHITE SISTER can be made when hearing this song. "

If anyone has got any of these songs in a good quality, I would be forever grateful as I have been looking for them for 10-15 years now and only have them as very bad tape quality, thanks and merry x-mas, keep the music coming!

'Hide Our Love Away (Tell Me Why)' was the opening track of Bobby Messano's 1989 self-titled solo album. He was the lead guitarist for Franke & The Knockouts circa 'Makin' The Point'.

"Do you like it?" - That's what Lenny Wolf asked with Kingdom Come, and most of us did, didn't we? But do you know how this all started in these early days, when Lenny lived here in Germany? He was playing in a band called LENNY WOLF'S GERMANY and they recorded an album in 1982 that was re-released due to his success with Kingdom Come in 1989. You will find out that his voice was already that great, he already sounded that "zeppelinesque"...and that this was the band to record "Do you like it" first! I added two very rare bonus tracks of the "Do you like it"-CD-Single that I've never seen again.

Sure you'll like it!

Hi, does anyone have either Trillion release on cd? I sent a vinyl rip of the Trillion self-titled awhile back, but I now see that a Japan pressing of both Trillions were released in the 90s.

Trillion - self-titled
Trillion - Clear Approach (bonus track is called "You Clown")

Thanks in advance if someone can send!

Kinda curious to know if it's anywhere near as good as the other 9 songs.

Dunno why, but i kinda like most of their music, even though it's sung in German.
(There haven't been many great German language artists/bands imho since the '80s and the Neue Deutsche Welle.)

@Camelblue

you will be amazed by the songs CROSSING THE LINE and NEVER SURRENDER, they have been in my head for 15 years now, the movie was only broadcasted once, the tv commercial is unsearchable on the internet, if you find the movie you MUST use both included songs (also When love breaks) in your AOR SOUNDTRACK collection,

Happily I have all mentioned tunes on Tape, but the sound is not good at all, although you can hear the music itself is fantastic, problem is i need to find a way to transfer it to mp3, so i can show you some samples

@troynew
its not the same song, i know both, but very much sounding alike, also the song "Forever yours" is really a terrific AOR song, killer chorus! hope someday someone shows up with all songs unedited in a high quality,

There's much more however...

Why can't they pass legislation to stop all them sober morons from participating in traffic and improve road safety by over 400%???

Here's a song that i'm not really sure if it can classify as a fullfletched aor tune? It's pretty good, and very rare, never released as far as i know. The song was included in the movie "Summer Rental" starring John Candy. The song is called Turning Around, by Jimmy Buffett. If anybody has that song it would be much appreciated. Perhaps it's material for a forthcoming soundtrack compilation? Here's a youtube clip of the song.

Okay, this is the SPIRO-album from 1994, not my favourite one of him...but it's for sure a nice collection of melodic songs, mostly in a mellow mood. It features Tim Pierce on guitars by the way.

MARK SPIRO - 1994 _ Care Of My Soul
http://www.multiupload.com/YSOBC7H8X1

Another one I'd like to share is the (maybe) best unreleased AOR-Album I got to know about till now: It's ARTI TISI from 1989, a demo (?) collection feat. Arthur Tisi (voc.), Al Pitrelli (guit.) and Al Greenwood (key.) - those are full studio recordings in an absolute TOP QUALITY! Never found out much more in the www except that it was planned to be released through MTM in the late 90's. Some songs have been rerecorded by other artists: Joe Lynn Turner had a version of "Can't Face Another Night" on his "Hurry Up And Wait"-Album in 1998. I made a slimcase-cover myself...hope ya love that stuff as I do! A real gem!!

ARTI TISI - 1989 - Demos
http://www.multiupload.com/MRHXBYOE3Z

And maybe I could offer you something on New Years Eve: I got the "DAVID HALLYDAY - On the Road..Live" from 1992 in my collection, found it pretty hard to get it. So it's the usual question: Anyone interested...?

@Homer/Mamedia:

Can one of you - or someone else -, post that new Charlie album you guys are pseudo-raving about?
Looks like it's no longer being seeded at EOTW. (Just checked, first time i've been back there in months.)

Weird title by the way, 'Kitchens Of Distinction', not exactly evocative of anything having to do with AOR. (Sounds more like an issue of 'Better Homes And Gardens' magazine in fact.)

@Camelblue:

Back to your overachieving best, i see. I ask for a few Münchener Freiheit albums and a couple of recommendations, but get bludgeoned over the head with an entire discography/back catalogue by you and Thomas!
Not that i'm complaining. Anything worth doing is worth overdoing as far as i'm concerned.
I'm obliged beyond words as usual.

As for Mark Spiro's 'Care Of My Soul': No sooner did we finally hit upon an album i've been familiar with since it came out and you appear to have overlooked, or Plattenpapst comes along and spoils it.
(And yet there are people who are amazed that we Dutch don't get along too well with our neighbors to the east...) ;oP

@Andreas:

I can upload Invertigo - 'Forum' for you later today if no one else cares to acquit me of this solemn duty before then. Watch this space.

troynew said...

(FYI, Homer ending the comment preceding mine with the exact same three words is merely a freakish coincidence.
On an unrelated note, i second his seconding your endorsement of Arti Tisi's would-be album. Clearly one of the best sounding demos ever to see the light of day.)

SOFIA said...

@Troy
Actually make it 20 total if you got the time.

troynew said...

@Sofia:

Like the Judas Priest song says, i'm Living After Midnight. Actually, i hardly ever hit the hay before 5 AM.

I don't have a top 10 for 2009, or any other year after i stopped collecting CDs (switched to collecting DVDs in July 2004 cause i couldn't afford to do both).

I've bought very few albums this year, and most of those were an entirely different genre and not even released in 2009.

Only a couple of albums from 2009 that i've downloaded from this here blogspot i've listened to all the way through. Generally i just browse and here and there play a few songs in their entirety.

When do you need it? Maybe when i've got a little time to spare i can speedbrowse through all of the 2009 output i have on my computer and get enough of an impression to compile a ranking.

plattenpapst said...

@ all:

It's something I'm asking myself almost everyday, and as I find no answer, I'm asking all of you today: HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC COLLECTIONS...?
I got so much in my private collection, at least the same in my "music-folders". Whenever I go through it, it's "Yeah, gotta listen to this or that again!" but still the day just got 24 hours, I usually work a lot and need a little sleep at least (although I'm sort of a nightrider like troy as well - you're welcome after midnight, my dutch neighbour...).
Okay, I have the "privilige" to be on the road a lot due to my job and got a pretty good soundsystem in my car that gives me the chance to listen to my mp3-files, but still there's so much new to be discovered. And I still LOVE to buy CD's for my collection, 'cause you can't compare a silverdisc with booklet to a mp3-folder with jpg's (in my opinion).
So once again to all of you: How do you listen to your music? How do you get to know AND remember old AND new stuff as you still just can read booklets, but not songs...

SOFIA said...

@plattenpapst
My answer is I can't. I can't manage to do all that. But there lies the beauty of music my friend! You can't get enough of it and there's always something old and new stuff to catch up with. Music has no beginning and no end! That's why I love it so much. It's literally the only thing that never ends and never lets you down. Everything else does eventually. So don't bother yourself with these details. Just enjoy it whenever and wherever you have the chance to. Cheers!
PS. Call me oldfashioned but I prefer vinyl over cds and mp3s anyday. ;)

plattenpapst said...

@ sofia:

ευχαριστώ (efcharisto) as you would say. It's not that I'm in a "tragic" feeling regarding this "music problem". Seems that you got about the same feelings as I have (not only on New Years Eve): to say it with the words of my favourite song of all times:

"Music was my first love
And it will be my last
Music of the future
And music for the past.

To live without my music
Would be impossible to do
'caus in this world of troubles
my music pulls me through."

Anything to add? Not at all, I would say! HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you...

P.S.: I don't call you oldfashioned, cause I grew up with vinyl as well. But I feel comfortable with CD and mp3 none the less. Sometimes I miss the sizzling at the end of vinyl, mostly I don't ;-)!

troynew said...

@Sofia:

"Music has no beginning and no end! That's why I love it so much."

I'll bet you'd marry it and have its' babies if you could.
Maybe you oughta move to the Netherlands cause we're likely to be the first country in the world to legalize the musicaphiliac marriage (having already condoned the holy union between a man and his goat). ;)

"It's literally the only thing that never ends"

How about the universe? Or the horizon? Or the Montana Sky (according to White Heart)? Or a late night showing of 'Dr. Zhivago' when your significant other insists on making you sit through it, thereby hammering the final nail in the coffin of your relationship?
Never mind, i know how much you love to exaggerate.

"Call me oldfashioned but I prefer vinyl over cds and mp3s anyday."

I have no nostalgic feelings toward vinyl whatsoever, despite its' supposedly 'warmer' sound compared to the CD. Too much wear and tear causing too much noise that shouldn't be there.
I'm way too neurotic to ever again be able to tolerate being subjected to a crackling fire in the background when i've gotten my hopes up after coming across an impossible-to-find OOP vinyl LP in a record store bargain bin. (Glad those days of hunting for vinyl rarities are over.)

@Plattenpapst:

John Miles' 'Music' is one of my all-time favorite songs too. Reminds me of those long-gone happier times when once a year our country's number one radio station (Hilversum 3, now Radio 3) aired the so-called Top 100 Of All Times. Listened to it religiously and tried to buy nearly every song in it, regardless of genre.

"HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC COLLECTIONS...?"

I've got the same problem with my DVD collection. When you hit the 2000+ mark it starts to get a bit difficult to find the time to watch anything more than a fraction of the stuff you keep buying, especially since i tend to watch movies and tv shows i've downloaded before i even get around to checking out regular DVDs.
Whatever spare time i've got left, i use to listen to music, downloaded or otherwise. (And yet it doesn't feel to me like it's taking a backseat to my viewing habits.)

Anyway, Sofia's advice sounds about right: grab some music downtime wherever and whenever you can.

Yeah my friend, even here in good old Germany we have heard about these lists on radio. I got a Top 2000 (!!!) from 2007 sent by a guy from the Netherlands and it's just amazing! Old ones kombined with new ones, some tunes you might have almost forgotten, most of them connected to some kind of memories. That's when you begin to feel old somehow (no problem with that, I'm manager of some homes for the elderly and love my job)...but still alive!

I tried to put together a Top 100 for myself in 2005 and finished with an unfinished compilation of then 184 songs...there should be some added today, of course. It's my "Best of Times...".

By the way - my Number 1 - Song was "Music", very closely followed by Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" that I can't get rid off after all these years. How should I ...beeing that deeply impressed watching Queen performing live in 1976 (!!) at the age of 14 in Dortmund. Memories again...
I guess all of you got yours, keep them alive! And once again my "wordly wisdom" (needed a dictionary for this term):

Still love to buy CD's yes, but nothing compares to hold a vinyl in your hands and if you're lucky enough to have a good turntable, listen the unsurpassable rich frecuencies... Time? hard to find a hole but I force myself to spend at least 1 hour per day to enjoy my fav music uninterrupted.

80sAOR said...

@joecool

don't know how you extract files with winrar, as there are different ways ie.right-click>extract

In this case [using winrar], double-click the rar file.When winrar opens, select 'extract to' from the toolbar menu.

You will then get the "extraction path and options" dialog.To the bottom-left, check/tick box "keep broken files". If you then click "OK" the rar will extract into the folder you saved it to.You will still get error message [close it],but the file will be extracted.

In this case,the 1st track plays ok :)

joecool said...

@80sAOR I got the other tracks okay just track one didn't work said file corrupted, maybe just me I'll try again when I get home.

btw I do use winrar didn't have trouble extracting just with that one track I had read on here before that the corruption error sometimes occurs because of trouble during the download, so I tried again but the same thing happened Thanks anyway

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have the japanese version of House Of Lords Cartesian Dreams with the song "WHO"?

plattenpapst said...

@ all:

Had a nice day full of music today, digged in my vaults and thought to share some gems with all of you.

Here's something I found in the www (thanx to "rehtakul" for uploading): The RIVERDOGS from 1993, some studio-demos for the "Bone" album with only 3 out of 10 songs that finally made it on the album. It really sounds great, why those unreleased tracks didn't make it on the album...I just don't know. ROB LAMOTHE sure got one of the most emotional voices in rock to me. Hope ya like it!

RIVERDOGS - 1993 - Lost Bones (Demos)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2TISDDSM

A little extra: ROB LAMOTHE - 2001 - Brave Enough (EP) feat. Vivian Campbell on guitar on the title-track. Out of print now for a while - I then hoped (...and had heard...) that there was a chance for a Riverdogs-Reunion. But it still remained a dream.

http://rapidshare.com/files/329354894/ROB_LAMOTHE_-_2001_-_Brave_Enough__EP_..._320_.rar

Anotherone from one of my favourite vocalists is the post-FM album by STEVE OVERLAND. He formed this group "SO!" to record one album in 2000, quite more pop than rock, but still excellent to listen to.

http://rapidshare.com/files/329323273/SO__-_2000_-_Brass_Monkey__320_.rar

As promised: DAVID HALLYDAY live at his best, here we go:

http://rapidshare.com/files/329311507/DAVID_HALLYDAY_-_1992_-_On_The_Road...Live__320_.rar

Let's go "westcoast": The LA COWBOYS had an album out in Japan only in 1995 called "Endless Summer". It features Michael Thompson and Buzz Feiten on guitar, Mick Fleetwood on drums. The LA Cowboys are James Studer (vox, keys) and Wayne Nelson (bass, vox). Very nice!

http://rapidshare.com/files/329338146/LA_COWBOYS_-_1995_-_Endless_Summer__320_.rar

TIMOTHY DRURY has become "a little" famous as live-keyboarder for Whitesnake. His solo-album from 1996 is released on the Westcoast-Label and offers some brilliant AOR-songs in the vein of Richard Marx or even Michael Bolton. Highly recommended! Try this:

http://rapidshare.com/files/329365921/TIMOTHY_DRURY_-_1996_-_Same__320_.rar

This next guy is from Canada, but sounds completely american - in it's musical direction, I mean! RAY LYELL has some country-vibe in his songs, but they really rock and his voice - as a reference to Canada? - reminds me of Bryan Adams sometimes...of Bob Seeger at the next moment. And of course you'll find some comparisons with The Eagles. So enjoy "Desert Winds" from 1992 - some nice guitar solos by the way...

http://rapidshare.com/files/329351186/RAY_LYELL_-_1992_-_Desert_Winds__320_.rar

The last one for today is some scandinavian AOR feat. TNT's Diesel Dahl. His band DIEZEL released that highlight "Willpower" with all typical trademarks of scandinavian melodic rock in 1995. Enjoy!

THANKS plattenpapst-- I grabbed the two Lamothe selections-- LOVE that voice

troynew said...

@Plattenpapst:

Thank you kindly for that little barrage of uploads. I'll definitely try and grab myself a few.

FYI, LA Cowboys are downright awesome, not merely 'very nice'.

I bought my Jap copy of 'Endless Summer' way back when from Barrie 'Mr Escape Music/AOR Basement' Kirtley himself. (Strangely the only thing i remember about our phone call is that the guy had a fetish for soggy fish and chips.)

As for that Top 2000 thing: I've got one of those sitting on my computer as well. Don't know what year it was aired though.

Unlike its predecessor, the Top 100 Of All Times, the Top 2000 is not compiled by the listener. (We're only allowed to determine the song ranking.) Which is why i've always prefered the former.

The Top 2000 also gets a ridiculous amount of media attention. It's as big a deal as the Miss Italy pageant is to RAI Television, but at least there you get to see some cleavage... ;oP

@Camelblue:

You wouldn't be the first Argentinian national to take up residence in the Netherlands and marry livestock.
One of them is even gonna be our next Queen. (Although our government and parliament, in an effort to be more politically correct, might grant her the title of Curiously Effeminate Same Sex Oriented Person instead.)

"The youtube song you've posted (rocks ?!?!? haha) is included in "Wachgeküsst (2002)" album."

Like my favorite male country singer Collin Raye put it: That's my story and i'm sticking to it!

If you've got some money to burn, the LA Cowboys CD is still available at Amazon.de marketplace sellers (euro 89,99) and gemm ($ 203,88).

But you don't necessarily need to go for the Japanese edition.
It was reissued a few years ago by some European label, so some other retailers may still carry it.

(By the way, it's in my personal top 25 of all times. Well worth the extra expense and going the extra mile for, me thinks.)

What on earth do you mean?!? I'm ALWAYS dead serious!

Yes, i sub movies (i've done anything ranging from 'There's Something About Mary' to 'Kingdom Of Heaven' for Dutch tv, but most of them are intended for the DVD market) and especially TV shows (mainly for TV, some DVD), both fiction and reality/documentaries.
(As for the German ones, here are a few you may be familiar with: Der Alte, Stolberg, KDD Kriminaldauerdienst, SoKo Leipzig, SoKo Wien, SoKo Kitzbühel, die Kommissarin, Donna Leon.)

@Sofia:

"Sure, Troy is the best subtitler ever! (And I never exaggerate Troy!)"

Sadly, i know a few people who might disagree with you. But let's not get into that.

Please go ahead and upload Lynyrd Skynyrd for me. You know, the one spelled with lots of 'y's but only two 'n's... Thanks in advance.
